Sustainability
We Generate Our Own Power. We Create Our Own Water.
We Leave Nothing Behind.
Most resorts talk about sustainability. They install a few solar panels, ask guests to reuse their towels, and call it a green policy. We built something fundamentally different.
Isla Aguada Glamping Co. is designed from the ground up to be completely self-sufficient — independent of the national power grid, independent of municipal water systems, independent of the industrial food supply chain. We generate our own electricity from the sun. We pull our own freshwater from the air itself. We grow our own food in organic soil. We return everything we use back to the earth. This is not a sustainability programme. This is how we were built.
Powered Entirely
by the Sun.
The Gulf Coast of Campeche receives over 320 days of strong sunshine per year — one of the highest solar irradiance levels in all of Mexico. We do not waste a single ray of it. Our dedicated solar energy farm captures, stores, and distributes clean electricity across the entire resort 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Every tent, every light, every fan, every kitchen appliance, every charging point, every water pump, every piece of infrastructure at Isla Aguada Glamping Co. runs on pure solar energy. No diesel generators. No grid connection. No carbon emissions from our power supply — ever.
High-capacity lithium battery storage banks ensure that guests experience absolutely no interruption to power — day or night, cloudy or clear. The resort runs seamlessly, silently, and cleanly on the energy the sky provides for free.
Solar Energy Farm
A dedicated solar panel array positioned to capture maximum irradiance — sized to power the full resort with surplus energy to spare
Battery Storage Banks
High-capacity lithium storage ensures 24/7 uninterrupted power — seamless luxury at midnight just as at noon
Zero Grid Dependency
Completely independent of Mexico's national power grid — no blackouts, no surcharges, no fossil fuel consumption, no apologies
320 Days of Sun a Year — We Harvest Every Single One of Them.
Atmospheric Water Generators
Industrial-grade AWG units extract humidity from the tropical Campeche air and condense it into pure, clean drinking water — entirely without wells, pipes, or municipal supply
Hospital-Grade Filtration
Multi-stage filtration, UV sterilisation, and mineral balancing deliver water purer than any municipal supply — the cleanest water your guests will ever drink
Closed-Loop Grey Water
All grey water is treated on-site and returned to the land as irrigation — the jungle and organic farm receive what the resort uses, in a perfectly closed circle
We Create Our Own
Water — From Air.
The humid tropical air of the Gulf Coast of Campeche contains an extraordinary resource that most people walk past every day without thinking about: water. Billions of invisible droplets suspended in the atmosphere, available at all times, requiring only the right technology to harvest.
Our Atmospheric Water Generation (AWG) systems do exactly that. Drawing power from our solar farm, these industrial machines pull humidity from the air, condense it, filter it through a multi-stage purification system, mineralise it, and deliver it as pure, pristine drinking water directly to every tent, restaurant, and facility on the resort.
No wells drilled into the aquifer. No municipal pipes. No plastic water bottles. No reliance on a water supply system that is under pressure across Mexico and the world. We make water from air — powered by the sun — and it is the cleanest water you will ever taste.
The Campeche coast averages 75–85% humidity year-round. Our AWG systems operate most efficiently in exactly this environment — meaning the tropical climate that creates the lush jungle around you also fills your glass every morning.
The Air Around You Is Our Water Supply. The Sky Above You Is Our Power Station.
A Fully Closed Loop
Solar power and atmospheric water are the two pillars — but the full sustainability system at Isla Aguada goes further than any resort we are aware of. Every resource that enters the resort is accounted for. Every waste stream is managed. Every output is either returned to the earth or eliminated entirely.
Organic Farm
Our on-site organic farm produces vegetables, herbs, fruits, and chillies for the Mas'Tul kitchen — zero food miles, zero pesticides, zero chemical fertilisers. Irrigated entirely by treated grey water. Fertilised by composted organic resort waste.
Zero Single-Use Plastic
Single-use plastic is banned across the entire property — no exceptions. Water is served in glass or stainless. Packaging is compostable. Guest amenities use refillable dispensers with organic, biodegradable products. The sea receives nothing from this resort.
Composting System
All organic kitchen waste, food scraps, and natural materials are composted on-site in our dedicated composting facility. The resulting nutrient-rich compost feeds the organic farm and jungle plantings — waste becomes growth, endlessly.
Sustainable Materials
Every structure at the resort uses sustainably sourced timber, natural canvas, thatched palm, and reclaimed materials wherever possible. The dark mahogany walkways are built from certified sustainable hardwood. Nothing is imported that can be sourced locally.
Passive Cooling Design
The safari tents are designed to maximise natural cross-ventilation from Gulf breezes. Thatched roofing provides natural insulation. Canvas walls breathe. Strategic canopy positioning provides shade. The jungle itself keeps the resort cool — naturally, beautifully.
Dark Sky Lighting
All resort lighting is low-wattage amber LED — turtle-safe, wildlife-safe, and light-pollution-free. The night sky above Isla Aguada is one of the darkest and most spectacular on the Gulf Coast. We intend to keep it that way.

The Most Luxurious Thing You Can Do
Is Leave No Trace
Staying at Isla Aguada Glamping Co. means your holiday generates no carbon from electricity, draws no water from an aquifer, produces no plastic waste, and sends no pollutants into the Gulf of Mexico. You sleep under canvas powered by sunlight, drink water born from the morning air, and eat food that grew in the soil behind the kitchen.
You come here. You live extraordinarily well. And when you leave, the land does not know you were here — except that the turtle hospital received another day of funding, another nest was protected, and another stretch of jungle stands exactly as it always has.
